Incubators and accelerators support startups in their journey towards scalability

From aspiring founders to early stage startups, the vision is to scale fast. When an entrepreneur is inducted into an incubation or accelerator program, he or she becomes part of a community enabling learning

Private sector involvement in incubation has grown, with almost half of the active incubators in the country are run either by educational institutions or corporates. These incubators offer access to a wide network of mentors from the institutions and industry, while also offering more practical support such as software, tools, free office space and infrastructure.

Scaleup Incubator

StartupTN is conducting Incubation Management Training programs with the objective of strengthening incubation ecosystem in Tamil Nadu.

StartupTN conducted the Incubation Management Training Program in three phases recently and ISBA, FUNDENABLE and Intellect as program partners. AIC-AU and PSG-STEP were the venue partners.

Phase I: Investment Management

Sixty trainees participated in the first phase. The session was conducted in two batches at Chennai and Coimbatore by ISBA and FUNDENABLE. The first phase included Startup Valuation, Deal Structuring, Investment Compliance Management and MIS Tools for Startups.

Phase II: Design Thinking

The second phase was conducted by Intellect for thirty trainees selected from the above. It included Cartographic View of Ecosystem, Design Mind for Idea Cross Pollination and Design Frameworks & Tools.

Phase III: Scale Up Grant

A scale up grant of Rupees Three Lakh grant each for fifteen selected incubators will be disbursed. Further, a delegation of five incubators to Israel is proposed to study the best practices from business incubators in Israel.

StartupTN Accelerator is a program under Incubation and Acceleration Imitative of StartupTN. The purpose of the accelerator program is to accelerate the startup’s growth. It’s a mentor-based program that provides intensive guidance, support and structure for a set period of time.

An applicant to a startup accelerator program, is expected to have more than an idea — ideally a prototype or minimum viable product. The StartupTN Accelerator gives exposure to an wide range of mentors and experienced entrepreneurs who’ll help develop the product, hone the business model and connect with investors.
