We are delighted to announce that the Tamil Nadu Startup and Innovation Mission, branded as “StartupTN”, is happy to partner with the Tirunelveli District administration to host the Second Edtion Of Open Innovation Challenge 2.0 – GovTechThon.This Time Even Bigger with 4 problem Statements and prize money of 8 lakhs.

Brief from Tirunelveli District administration:

Tirunelveli District administration envisages finding solutions, that promote efficiency and high-quality service delivery in government agencies, by leveraging the power of citizens and innovation. Government representatives from various departments have identified the below-mentioned challenges that could be solved using data and technology. We invite startups, students, coders, developers, designers, engineers, data scientists, and Subject Matter Experts (SMEs) from industry, academia to develop technology solutions to the challenges listed and share them with us within the deadline. Selected teams will be invited for further discussion in implementing the same.

• Application Closing Date: 31^st, December 2021.
• Announcement of Shortlisted Startups: 3^rd, January 2022.
• Bootcamp(By concern Department Person):-8^th & 9^th, January 2022.

Problem Statement

1. Virtual Assistant Chatbot for Government Schemes

Have you ever felt exhausted trying to identify a Government welfare or subsidy scheme on the internet? Thousands of Government schemes exist for the citizens from cradle to grave. What if you can create an AI-based virtual chatbot that can guide you to the schemes that you are eligible for rather than you trying to search in a maze of websites? If this challenge excites you, sign up right away!

2. Patient management system for Primary Health Centres.

How about getting an alert from your nearest Government Primary Health Centre (PHC) regarding your upcoming health check-up or getting your BP tested at the doorstep free of cost? A population-based health screening framework for the PHCs with an integrated patient management system may very well turn this into a reality. With Covid times passing by, it’s time we address the future health challenges!

3. Traffic flow optimization at Vannarpettai, 

If you are a resident of Tirunelveli or if you are someone who frequently visits the city, you are unlikely to have missed the traffic congestion below the Vannarpettai Flyover. How about trying to solve this perennial problem with a mix of common sense and planning? The solution could be a realignment of existing traffic or a new traffic signal or even as simple as shifting the existing bus stop to ensure a smooth flow of vehicles and citizens. 4. Food adulteration identification through AI/IoT.

You are what you eat! Is the milk that you drink or the rice that you eat daily really safe? If not, how do you check if it’s free from any adulteration? How about creating a really cool mobile app or smart device based solution that can “nudge” a consumer to check for adulteration before buying any food and offer solutions on how to check and identify adulterated food. An informed choice will definitely tend to drive an “Eat Right” awareness in society.
